RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking growth oriented candidates to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Fuquay Varina, NC.  As a member of our team, the selected candidate will work with our engineering staff and our customer's staff to support the production of utility vehicles and lawn care equipment.  Our customer's facility is a world-class engineering and manufacturing center including full capability of machine design, simulation, prototyping manufacturing, and testing of entire vehicles.

This is a full time position that is indefinite in duration with opportunity for growth within our organization, or direct hire by our customer.

Job Description

  • Assist with component development and system integration activities involving internal and external suppliers.
  • Component selection/development/integration:  This includes determining critical path issues and executing action plans.
  • Develop and maintain design requirements documents.
  • Assist internal and external (supplier) resources in determining a design that will meet global product requirements while optimizing for cost, quality, and performance.
  • Apply engineering rigor in harness, hardware, sensor, and display selection activities.
  • Collaborate with Product Verification & Validation experts, internal & external, to execute validation plan activities (design analysis, simulation, lab tests, field tests, certification/compliance tests, etc.).
  • Assist product line management teams regarding electrical system elements to provide rapid response to factory and field issues.


  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • We’d like to have a candidate that is experienced with & passionate about doing (or comfortable with rapidly getting trained to do) Creo/Creo Cabling work.
  • We must have a harness & component focused/interested person, not an author of software code.
  • We must have someone who is comfortable doing troubleshooting, i.e. rolling up his/her sleeves and wringing out issues on machines with an oscilloscope (not just a digital multimeter)
  • Experience developing 3D models for wiring harnesses, 2D drawings for harnesses and/or components.
  • Experience developing new hardware for new product programs with demonstrated skills and knowledge in one or more of the following: wiring harness development; electronic hardware design, validation, & manufacturing; telematics; embedded software development;  vehicle electrification (generator, inverter, motor, and/or battery development).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in giving presentations, explaining complex engineering issues and breaking them down into action items.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work well without close direction, in the office and in the field.

Desired Attributes

  • 1 to 3 years product development engineering experience.
  • Experience in the Ag, Turf, Recreational Vehicle, or Construction industry.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Capital Harness Systems and/or Catia.
  • Previous successful project management skills.
  • Experience with electrification and/or telematics.
  • Prior knowledge of systems engineering processes.
