RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team in the southwest Twin Cities metro area.  As a member of our team, the selected candidate will work with our engineering staff and our customer's staff in the engineering, design, fabrication, and commissioning of mechanical equipment used in the liquefied natural gas industries.

Job Description

  • Work on all stages of a project, from development through installation and commissioning.
  • Work will include feasibility, sizing and analysis to ensure engineering design standards and customer specifications and needs are met.
  • Create plans, designs and customer solutions for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain process instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and process flow diagrams (PFDs) based on Customer specifications as required for the project.
  • Perform various calculations and analyses such as, but not limited to, fluid flow analysis, heat leak, pressure vessel thickness, pressure-building, vaporizer sizing, and/or piping and valve sizing, etc.
  • Assist in developing of general arrangement and assembly drawings.
  • Work with customers to gain a better understanding of the system requirements and their implications to the system design and solution proposal. This requires working closely with all engineering disciplines, project management, customer representatives, suppliers and shop personnel to ensure that all aspects of the design requirements are considered.
  • Work with strategic suppliers to determine the correct components to be used in systems. 
  • Provide regular updates of design status, drawings, BOMS and purchased equipment.
  • Work with the shop and project management to meet customer and engineering requirements for fabrication, assembly and shipping.
  • Support shop personnel during fabrication.
  • Conduct onsite field checkouts and commissioning of equipment.
  • On occasion, support the Proposals Team with quotation assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication and commissioning of mechanical equipment used in the oil and natural gas, or liquefied natural gas industries.
  • Working knowledge of industrial codes and common engineering practices used within the oil and gas industry. Codes of specific interest are ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Division 1, and NFPA 52/59a.
  • Experience with Creo or SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Experience with hands-on technical work.
  • Experience with field operation and maintenance personnel at all levels.
